The consultation period on the revised Solihull Local Plan has been extended and now closes on 17th February. It should be noted that the Plan includes a determination on prospective housing sites in the Borough up to 2033. One site for approximately 100 homes is proposed in Hampton-in-Arden at Lapwing Drive/Meriden Road and includes the Arden Woodshavings site.
The Parish Council has had several meetings with Solihull MBC officers and the owners and prospective developers to try to ensure a coherent, integrated approach to development of the whole site in keeping with the ambience of the village and to include significant open space. The proposed Plan also includes up to 1,000 homes at Balsall Common and at Knowle, and up to 650 homes at Damson Lane/Lugtrout Lane on the western edge of Catherine de Barnes village. Both the Parish Council and Catherine-de-Barnes Residents Association have expressed concern at the scale of these development proposals.
