Telecom Mast: Planning ApplicationPL/2015/51823/MINFOT.
A few months ago a resident of Peel Close alerted the parish council to surveying work taking place on Railway land, he was told it was to do with a radio mast of some kind. Low and behold notification duly arrived of a planning application to site a 20 m high mast directly behind family homes in Peel Close and 100 m from our village school causing enormous concern amongst village residents. Aside from the appearance in a sensitive location, diligent researchfailed to allay anxiety concerning possible health effects. A campaign was mounted to oppose the application by residents, the parish council, school governing body and Hampton Society. We were pleased to hear that the Planning Officer had heeded our views and recommended refusal and that the application was then withdrawn by the developer. The parish council recognise the need of residents for high quality signal coverage and have offered to meet with the council and communication company to find a more appropriate location, we have heard nothing so far.
HS2 Update
Following mylast update in September, available on the parish council website, you may be aware that the parish council and Hampton Society circulated a petition opposing the plan by HS2 to realign Diddington Lane as a major road. We obtained 740 signatures and our M P Caroline Spelman presented the petition to Parliament, we hope that this will portray the strength of feeling on the issue of increased traffic flow through the village to the Minister of State for Transport. The ‘Hampton HS2 Action Group’has recently been formed by residents to fight for fair mitigation, if you wish to be included in email circulation you can join their Yahoo Group by contacting me@davidtomkins.co.uk . The Action group met with Ward Councillors Sleigh and Rolf and the Chair of the SMBC HS2 Working Party, Councillor Ian Courts, on 14th October and the anger concerning the proposed new road was very clear. The wish to return to a situation where the lane will be closed to through traffic was clearly understood. Our ward councillors undertook to support the view of the village however Councillor Courts felt that this was an unachievable aim and the Highway Authority should look at traffic calming measures. The next meeting of SMBC HS2 Working Party is on 19th November at 18.00 in The Council House if you wish you can attend and even request to speak. In the meantime the slow drip of bad news continues with the publication of Additional Provision 4 detailing the latest plan to relocate the public refuse site to the field adjacent to Pasture Farm. The facility will be 40% larger and we will contest the location as it represents further loss of green belt to the south of the A45.
MSA: Planning Application PL/2015/51409/PPOL.
In September, Solihull MBC postponed any decision on this application for 6 months to give the applicants time to answer a number of clarifications that have been requested by Highways England. It is not too late to respond to the application if you have not already done so.
