High Speed Two (HS2) is the new high speed railway for Britain. Since autumn 2017, LM (Laing O’Rourke and Murphy & Sons Joint Venture) has been delivering initial works on phase one of High Speed Two (HS2) at the site of the new Interchange Station, which is located near the A452, A45 and M42.

What are LM doing?

As part of HS2 work, LM is undertaking a series of highways upgrades to roads around the Station site. The main construction work for these areas will begin in early 2019 and we will send out more information in autumn 2018. Ahead of the main construction work, they have to carry out a number of surveys on highways and bridge structures, including Stonebridge Island.

Where is the road closure?

As part of the survey works, LM needs to assess the current condition of the bridge structures on Stonebridge Island. To complete a section of this work, they need to temporarily close the A45 westbound slip road from the A45 onto Stonebridge Island .

When is the road closure?

The A45 westbound slip road at Stonebridge Island will be temporarily closed from 8pm on Monday 17th September, to 6am on Tuesday 18th September.

Will there be a diversion in place?

Any vehicles travelling westbound on the A45, and wanting to exit at the Stonebridge Island junction, will be diverted to the M42 junction 6 roundabout, and back onto the eastbound carriageway of the A45 to Stonebridge Island. The diversion length is approximately 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) and will take approximately five minutes. A map is provided on the next page which shows the diversion route.
