1.       Free Solihull Barons Tickets For All Eligible HAF Children

All eligible HAF children living within the Solihull Borough are able to attend a Solihull Barons ice hockey game for free, with the next game being on Sunday 2nd January.

Eligible HAF children booked on will receive food at the game. Transport will also be provided from Kingshurst Library on Sunday 2nd January.

2.       Suicide Prevention Fund

Applications to the Suicide Prevention Fund are now open until 16 January 2022 for grants from the £4 million fund to support suicide prevention voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in 2021 to 2022.

3.       CAVA Meet the Funder Event: Heart of England Community Foundation

On Tuesday 18th January at 17:00 – 18:30 there is a free virtual event allowing you the opportunity to meet Grant Officers from Heart of England Community Foundation and the CAVA teams in Solihull in order to learn about the grants currently available to charities, CICs, and other community and social enterprise VCSE organisations.

All Solihull-based not-for-profit groups, such as voluntary and community groups, charities, constituted groups, Community Interest Companies, and other types of social enterprise, are invited to attend.

Come and learn more about these grant programmes, get to know the teams that support you in Solihull and ask questions that help you understand whether your initiative and group activities and needs match these grants’ criteria.

In the new year, CAVA will also be trialling being based at the Three Trees Community Centre in North Solihull and at The Bridge in Shirley on alternate weeks on a Wednesday morning. This is an opportunity for local organisations to meet with CAVA with the introduction of Wednesday morning meeting slots in addition to introducing an open-door availability (depending on local restrictions).

4.       Youth Opportunity Board Solihull (YOBS)

YOBS would love to invite you to their on-line event on Tuesday 18th January at 6 – 8pm.

This event is a session to enable organisations to reflect on and update their Mission, Vision and Values plus get to network with local Organisations in a relaxed but informative atmosphere. There will be a great talk and discussions, plenty of chances to get to know fellow attendees and a short quiz too! The event will be online so that you can comfortably enjoy the session without having to go outside and leave the warmth to attend. 5.       Rape & Sexual Violence Project Training Sessions Offer

The Rape & Sexual Violence Project have a limited time offer of when you book a place on any of their ‘Bite Size’ Training sessions, you get an additional place on the same session for another delegate or another session for yourself for free! This offer is only available for bookings made between now and 31st December 2021.

6.       Ping! Solihull: Tell Us What You Think

Ping! Solihull aims to get more people active through table tennis. They are looking for participants who have used the new Ping! Solihull outdoor tables to complete a survey questionnaire or a case study to tell them about your experience with the new outdoor Ping! Solihull tables.

Your feedback will help them to increase and improve the opportunities in place for people to enjoy table tennis. Complete a survey and be in with a chance of winning £50 in Amazon vouchers but also receive 4 bats and 2 balls. Complete a case study and receive a play at home table kit which includes bats, balls and a net.

9.       Solihull Parenting Team Tweets

Please see the attachment ‘Tweet 51 – Building resilience in children’ in which the Solihull Parenting Team have provided information about the potential importance of resilience in children and practical suggestions for building resilience in children.

Also attached is ‘Tweet 52 – Teenagers Struggling to Sleep’ where the Solihull Parenting Team have provided information for teenagers that are having difficulty getting to sleep, with information about the Teen Sleep Hub, in addition to the number for the national sleep helpline being provided.
